After two races with only base boost it was with great excitement we came to Kjula raceway.
On street tests prior the race we finally got 35psi, it was impossible/ too risky to boost more.
It was good enough that we got any more boost than 22psi...
Im trying to focus before first run.
Lots of buttons and stuff to push n pull in the right order to make it work.
I was more or less scertain we would run fast in the first run,
but I forgot to engage the gear-sensor that makes boost increase with gears,
so instead of a new record run we ran 10,36-218kmh.
Johan Wigstrand and Dr Ernie came to visit us at the track.
Johan started to make fun of my poor reaction time (0,23s),
and for not engaging the boost increase swich...
..so in the next run I surely engaged the boost swich,
and left the line after only 0,14s and crossed the finnish line at 9,82-245kmh with a 1,58s 60ft.
It fealt slightly slippery. Not as last time at the track, but a 9,82 is always ok.
New Swedish FWD record.
In an atempt to improove the reaction time I left the line so soon
the timing hadnt even started and I didnt get a time.
Forth run wich was to be our last this weekend was verry close to perfect.
I left the line 0,061s prior green. Got miserable 1,75 in 60ft,
but still I crossed the finnish line after only 9,71-248kmh.
New FWD record. Again! =)
Now we know both the car and driver can deliver.
We had some heavy tyre shakes in the start and thats why the 60ft was so poor.
Imagine a 1,48s in 60ft like we did at the last race at this track?
I sayed the car and driver can deliver.
The engine was a different chapter.
It turned out we burnt three pistons and damaged the head.
We took the head off in the pit just to check but we basicly knew what to expect.
Lets see now.
We got boost. Lots of it.
Everything seems to work like it should, we got a new ECU, harness, ignition system, coils,
all is gone thrue and checked over and over again. After the third run all looked fine
but after the fourth run all was bad.
The only thing we can think of now is to get a serious fuel pump?
We chose an Aeromotive belt driven pump with a suitable regulator.
To make the mounting easy I took old cam sprockets from an old Cherry engine.
New custom made pistons from Ultra motors arrived in a week,
and Hellman did a great job honing the cylinders and rescuing the head really quick.
Next race is in almost a month, July 10 at EDPS Sundsvall.
