Saturdays race offered us sun, rain and storm.
We lost the alternator belt in our first run.
Seems like we just have to drop something on our first run on this track every year.
Last year we dropped our tail pipe, although it is not in rear I belive it still is called so.
We only got one run on saturdays qualifyings. We had to get a new alternator belt and
missed the second run with only minutes.
A cool thing was that Robert Uhr put his car together to give us a mach.
He was very pleased running 10,26 after two attempts while we ony ran 10,36 in our one and only run.
Sundays weather was just as its suppose to be. Brilliant!
There were no time for any qualifying rounds on sunday,
so we entered the eliminations as qualifyer no5 wich isnt too bad after only one run
and competing against all kinds of 10,5" slicks cars.
We were to meet Jan Fredriksson in a Dodge Dart in our first round.
It was that car we raced against when we blew up our engine last year but with a different driver.
This driver had a qualifying time of 10,0 and a really poor reaction time.
I fealt that if I just pushed up my boost slightly and stayed awake at the tree I would have good chanses of winning.
I ran new personal record in 60ft. 1,48s.
I also ran a really descent time, 10,01-223kmh with only some 23psi boost.
0,12s in reaction time was alot quicker than Fredriksson but unfortunally for me he used alot more NOS
than during his qualifying so he ran 9,3 and was half a car before me at the finnish line...
We ran a test-n-tune run after we lost in eliminations,
to try and figure out why we only got 23psi when the boost controller were set to 40...
The car and the chassies fealt really good and strong
but the lack of power were definitly a problem we could not solve at the track.
We fealt we tryed everthing.
Checked for leaks, hoses, couplers, tested the wastegate with the boostcontroller,
blowoff-valve etc. but nothing was an obvious cause.
Our old turbo has seen better days but one would think it should be building boost eventually?
We tryed a different turbo just to make sure but with the same result.
Sometimes we got 28-30psi, but on higher gears only 22-23psi.
After alot of sleepless nights searching we found out it was the spark plugs.
Same brand and model as we have always used, Champion C57,
but for some reason they just didnt want to join the party any more.
I put in a new set and tested, and suddenly I got the boost I set the controller to.
Far out!
One plug showed signs of not being perfect after only a short test run,
so I changed to a set of NGK's instead. I also swiched back to my old turbo.
It seems as we have found the reason for our low boost now.
In only a few weeks we will get back to Kjula Raceway,
to set new records and be quick enough to earn some points in the ten-n-half class.
Stay tuned.
