I started collecting info regarding what engine would be the most sufficient.
Nissan Sweden HQ recommended the SR20DE from Primera rather than the 2litres engine found in Bluebird.
Even if I knew the car would cost a fortune, I couldn't see any reason to at least try to keep the costs down.
Got hold of a Primera engine from a junkyard,
and I also bought a Volvo 850 Turbo gearbox, axles, joints, and so on...
The engine seemed to be in excellent condition.
Elmer is checking the bottom end.
The crank was machined since it was going for balancing later on anyway.
Unfortunately, I discovered a couple of very deep scraches inside the crank shaft.
Looked just like a piston had tried to get out in a previous life...
I bought a new engine just to make sure,
and the "new" engine had the exact same pattern with marks inside the shaft,
so thereby I decided it was just a matter of rough casting.
I still kept the second engine, even though nothing from it could ever be used.
I chose to use the disaster-engine as a mockup for adaptor-plates, engine mounts and so on.
