Norway, Oslo, Gardemoen 2002
Now it was time to see what Norway can treat in raceways.
Since the trip Stockholm - Oslo is over 500 km one way,
I didn't even consider driving the Cherry all the way...
Therefore I borrowed a trailer from a friend over the weekend.
Directly after arriving to my hotel in Oslo,
and after explaining to the clerk why I as a single person needed three parkinglots,
I got the Wok off the trailer.
I went to Oslo at Thursday afternoon,
so I coult visit my companys office in Oslo for a couple of days before the actual race.
Thursday evening was spent in a verry pleasant way.
Results:
Hot Wok vs. Norwegian Cops: 10-0
All night I felt they were tracking me down
with roadblocks and patrolcars all over the place.
Lucky for me, I had a guy from the Oslo office with me as a tracker so we got away from the cops.
Statement:
This was not ment to be a Get Away in Oslo.
It just sort of happened, all I wanted was to ride in my extreme car, and not getting pulled over,
cause who would know what fees I would get to pay for what ever they could come up with?
I must admit that 200 km/h in the innercity tunnels was quite a rush.
(everyone ever being to Oslo would know what I'm refering to)
But the best time I had racing the Oslo streets, was to see the guy from the Oslo office,
almost getting cramps as he was trying to get a grip on the cars lack of interior,
and as he thought the car was doing more than max, I still had more to give.
The friday in Oslo didn't treat on else but rainy weather,
therefore an evening with the Playstation felt pretty OK.
Saturday, Raceday:
The weater didn't leave anything to wish for, exept maybe shadow.
The drivers meeting at the start of the day, was containing little information and lots of crap.
Lack of information was quite present, and aspecially just after I arrived to the track.
I asked one of the crew where to sign in, and he had to call a friend to check out.
Maybe I should mention that the track wasn't that large by far.
As soon as the race had begun, everything went verry nice and smooth.
This day, as so many times before,
the Wok simply didn't feel like running as it should.
At first I got too much feul at low revs,
then I got too lean mixture at higher revs.
The grip was exelent, and everything was really looking good,
but thats race I guess...
There were a gang of Volvo owners running 12-runs all the time,
two front tech Volvos even run 11-runs
Congratulations
On my way home from Gardemoen, I did get pulled over by a Norwegian cop for missing the front plate,
but after pretending extreemely surprised, he let me go on without even writing me a ticket.
A couple of days before the trip,
I decided to make the intercooler a bit nicer:
