Lazzat Strip Challenge part IV, September 8
and Lazzat Strip Challenge part V September 21

This update includes both Lazzat four and five.
After showing everyone at Lazzat three who had the fastest FWD,
Lazzat four looked like a really pleasant event.
I was fastest at the qualifying, and thereby I got a free ride as my first elimination run.
Just as everything started to look good, a feul-line broke
and my car started to flush feul all over the bleach box.
The race was over for me that day, and that really pissed me off to say the least...
...it took me 10 minutes to fix the problem,
but that was 10 minutes too late.

Better luck next time.
As I was really looking forward to the last cup-event in Lazzat Strip Challenge,
there popped up another event in Nyköping, 150km south of Västerås.
That event offered full length, 402 metres, and money to the winners in each class.
Since I felt I didn't have much of a chance to get to the top in the Lazzat cup in total,
I was aiming for Nyköping September 21. Most people I know was thinking the same way.
Everyone wanted to run the very last race for the season 2002 in full length
so for a while it looked like Johanisberg in Västerås was going to be a pretty empty place...

...luckily, the guys arranging the races in Västerås got to their minds,
and changed the distance of Lazzat Strip Challenge to 1/4 mile.
That made me stop thinking of where to go,
price money or not, but Johanisberg was for me a known track,
and I also knew most of the people around the track at this time.
The change of distance in the middle of the series made some confused,
but I just got happy.
When running 1/4 instead of 1/8 mile, the security was slightly upgraded.
No one was alowed to run faster than 10,0s for instance.
How ever I was more interested in running 12,42 or less.

Just as last time I was fastest by far at the qualifyings with my 12,99

The list above was for the faster part of the FWD cars at Lazzat 5,
Just some error made it say Lazzat 4.

Since 402 metres was going to make the inspection pre-race a bit harder,
my upgrades since last time was mostly concentrated to security items.
A new battery-box was installed and an extra gearbox, to get home in case of trouble...
It would take longer to tow the 100 km from the track to home.

This time all hoses and feul-lines kept in place,
and the car went really smooth.
The temperature was around 5-10 degrees celsius all day and all of the crowd were freezing
while I for a change had a warm and cozy climate in my car
and could concentrate on the task of getting the car to the finnish line as fast as possible.
Usually it's so hot in the car that it's hard to do that.
The only bad thing with the temperature was that the ground was a bit slippery,
but the later it got at the day, the better the grip got.
Enough for one Volkswagen to do wheelie after wheelie,
and enough for one BMW with aprox. 700 bhp to do two 9,x - 210 km/h+ runs.
At his last 9,x run his car lost all grip at the finnish line and started to spin.
That was quite spectacular, but everything was ok after spinning some 5 laps or so.

My fastest run was 12,79 - 173.
Even if the car went ok, there was some power missing someware.
Yet, I could not be sad over that, since that was enough by far
to get me to first place in FWD that day.
For that I got price money, as a good-luck-see-you-next-year-thing.
More surprises were heading, when I got the message I got to second place in total!

Guess who was paying the party later that night.

Could there be any better way to end the 2002 series that started so bad?
-I really do not think so.
Now there is 6 months until the season 2003 starts,
and hopefully I will be better prepared than I was 2002...
...one can only hope.

As usually some others cars got stuck inside my digital camera that day.
