Zatzy Cup part IV at Tullinge 010818

Now was the time to see what my latest modifications would do...
The quest was to see if I could brake my old record 14,83.
A new fuelpressure-regulator was one of the new things.

Since Mantorp a couple of weeks was a step backwards when looking at the times,
I thougt the positive angle of the track at Tullinge might do me good.
But, on the Saturday 12 August, Mr Murphy entered my engine.
Less than one week before the race att Tullinge a piston took the pink slip
during a testrun at the local highway.
Naturally, on top of that, I got a major cold...
...just what one could ask for.
Monday passed away making sure if the engine was completely "worn out" or not.
-It was
On Tusday afternoon, as I got out of bed at 16:30,
I just managed to reach a junkyard that could remove an enginge from a wreck to the next day.
Then I arranged so that a good neighbour could borrow a hydralic crane from his work,
and a friend for transportation of the new engine from the junk-yard.
Then I went back to sleep

Wendsday afternoon as I got up, some minor parts was dismounted from the old engine,
after that we went to pick up the new engine...
...just to realize that the new engine was quite far from new.
The car it had been taken from had its hood wide open for a couple of months,
so it was verry rusty and not in its best shape.
less exited about the "new" engines shape,
the evening was spent dismounting the remaining parts from the old one,
and around 21-22 it was time for takeoff.

After that we changed the clutch and transfered the gearbox,
since the new engine came without gearbox.
As Conny just had fixed the first enginemounting, I happened to find a brand new clutch-bearing.
After NOT fitting that, we continued fixing the remaining engine-mountings.

The new engine was completely mounted sometime around 01:00,
so that was it for that evening.
Thursday I spent refitting all minor parts,
and exchanging well working parts such as distributor and intakemanifold,
from my old engine to the new engine

By the way, the burned piston was realy well roasted.

The Friday I spent trying to get the right feeling and power from the new engine.
Unfortunaly, I never realy found it, so Friday night soon became Saturday morning...
...Raceday!
Conny and I went directly from the garage to the race
with only a short stop at the petrolstation for a large cup of coffie

Well at Tullinge raceway, the engine still wouldnt run as the old one,
so I spent most of the day under the car, without any luck.
The car went so bad, that there was not even an idea to run in the tournament.
I qualified, but after that I was so tired and the car still wouldnt run properly,
so I decided not taking the risk of trashing the new engine.

Not suprising, Elvis Häggblom's Cherry went as it should.
His best time for the day with his Cherry was 13,68!
Thats more than one second faster than my fastest run...

...I can only congratulate Elvis, Well done!

I went home about 15:00 to get some sleep.
Later on I discovered that a faulty sparkplug
was the reason for my engine not wanting to run properly.
-Shit happens

Its now one more run at Tullinge this season,
Thats the Zatzy Cup Finals 8 September.

Hopefully until then I have some new nice things done to the car
to reach the point of 402 metres in less than 14,5 s.
