4 August, Bilsport Action Meet at Mantorp Park.
We gathered three Cherrys during the week before Mantorp in Nortälje...
since we for the time being were three cherrys racing on the dragstrips
more or less frequantly we gathered all tree for some chit-chat
and some testing against each other.
Just a couple of days before meeting up with the others in Norrtälje
Compa talked me into a new crazy project: Digital instruments.
With a fully digital instrument-panel from a Toyota Camry -1985
29 unmarked cables coming out from it,
an a good portion of patience, we went up to my garage.
Three days (and nights) later, it was all finnished.
Everything even worked!
-Who would think different?
After the gathering in Norrtälje, there was no doubt,
I had to rebuild the intake.
First of all I searched for a larger air-flow meter,
at first I found one at a Saab 9000.
That meter really had the flow I was looking for!
Too bad Saab uses air-mass meters instead of air-flow,
and too bad I didn't know the difference until too late.
All I was looking at was the sizes...
Anyway, I had to look further...
It would have been nice, allthoe that wasn't the right type of meter.
Instead I took a meter from a Ford Scorpio (air-flow this time)
The only problem was that the meter from the Ford needed some modification
before it would fit with the cables in the Cherry...
What I did was that I simply mooved all the electronic parts from my old meter and put it in the Ford-one
pretty simple actually
Finally, with a new instrumentpanel and a rebuilt intake to the turbo,
the wheels were set towards Mantorp Park.
At Mantorp, there weren't so many pictures taken,
since I was bussy doing other things...
My best time at Mantorp was 14,872/ 146,8 km/h.
Thats a bit slower than on Tullinge last time,
The reason for that was probably because the track was slightly upwards,
and the dumpvalve didn't open at all.
The dumpvalve was fixed two days after getting home (ofcourse)
so that fact together with higher fuel-pressure would in technically means
make the car go alot better than 14,83 as last time on that track.
On top of that, I have a complete set of Yokahama tyres waiting for action
The model is Yokahama Advan-032R 185-65-R13
