Name: Dimitar Tsanev A.K.A.: dimitar Runs most in: Bulgaria Status: Cherry Owner Mail: metapa_zanev@yahoo.de Hi Bjorn, hi boys, hi every single Cherry Turbo owner! First of all, I Want to be excused for my bad english, Secondly I want to thank you for giving that great japanese car so much glory and fame! My name is Dimiter Tsanev and I live in Bulgaria (you shure don`t know where that is but that doesn`t matter) The last 3 years I have lived next to my Cherry that my father bought 7 years ago. Now that its mine, I usually take it to the local races here in town. Some of my kills: Lada 1600s, Opel Astra 1.6i, Opel kadett 1.6s, BMW 318s, Opel Kadett1.3i, Ford sierra 2.0, Ford Capri 2.0... Ok, no Skyline's and no ferari's but remember this is not beverly hills either. It is not a Turbo beast but... ...It is a 1984 1.3GL model and it runs great for its age. It has an electronic ignition system and spark plugs from Jaguar XJ12-NGK. The rear seats and most other unusefull (read heavy) stuff is gone, so nowdays the 60hp engine makes the car moove alot better than before. 14" Alloy wheels are to be invested to get rid of some extra kilos too. One of many plans is to get a 1,5 GL engine and tune it to its limits. That would include headwork such as port n polish, custom made exhaust manifold with a 4-2-1 exhaust system with full flow (empty) restriction tubes... Dimiter also writes that he want to keep his car as simple as possible, and with as little electronics as possible since we all know that the more high tech we go, the more problems we get. Why not just buy a Cherry turbo instead you might think? Guess what the prices of one would be in Bulgaria, if one even was found...
