Name: Mackan A.K.A.: Backus Runs most in: Östersund, Sweden Status: Colt Turbo Owner Mail: macsnipes@hotmail.com Backus own story: At first I got inspired by Racerman at this page, to get a Cherry Turbo... But after watching a neigbour having a Mitsubishi Colt Turbo, I just couldn't get my mind off it. I just had to have it! 1,6 litres, turbo and 125 bhp at only 0,3 bar (4 psi) stock. Sounds verry impressive. The neibour was an old man at around 70 years of age, so one evening I put a note on his wiper saying I wanted to buy the car. A week later the car was mine! That was back in autumn 2002. Now the wastegate has been modifyed to give 0,7 bars of boost (10 psi), an intercooler from a Saab 900 with modifyed plumbing from a Nissan 200 is also fitted. 0-100 hasn't ben tested yet due to the winter, but an 230 bhp Audi 100 TQ was no problems to keep up with to 120 km/h. More modifications is on the way. PLANS: Bosch Dumpvalve, Progressive feulpressure regulator Bleed valve on the wastegate 3 inch exhaust system Modifye the intake (wich is extreemely complicated on the Colt) Probably planned: --------------------------- Extra or just plain bigger injectors Bigger turbo Ported cylinder head New or modifyed exhaust manifold Bigger feulpump different cross flow intercooler I haven't tryed the car on the strip yet, so I don't know how fast it will go but the plan is to visit Tullinge Raceway in Stockholm during the summer 2003 to give Racerman's Cherry a fair chanse... |
