After having massive problems with our CV-joints we finally decided to use our old cluch.
The same cluch I roasted badly at the last race at Tullinge 2006.
We did our best to renovate it with some new and some old parts.
It didnt get as good as it used to be but it got us to the track and gave us some timeslips.
This was a two day event covering friday and saturday.
Fridays race unfortunally mostly destroyed by rain, but we got one round before it closed.
We ran 10,98s - 236kmh. The new set of tyres we got had a difference in diameter of 45mm,
so my main task as driver was to keep the car on track, and I can tell you it wasnt easy.
For saturdays race we shifted to my old tyres.
After the track closed on friday evening we took out the cluch for inspection
while eating hotdogs and drinking a couple of fine lagers.
The cluch had already ben slightly damaged after only one single run,
but we grinded it off, washed it and put it back together.
Later on friday evening the publisher of the mag. Bilsport arranged a big party.
My team mates sleapt in the back of a cargo truck and I got the king size...
...eh, drivers seat in my own truck.
Saturday offered superb weather.
Not too hot, but not too cold either. Pretty much perfect.
Obviously too perfect since I couldnt get the car to leave the line at all almost.
Didnt matter what start rpm I had, it bogged on me anyway.
We hadnt engaged any kind of launch controle and that seems like kinda stupid
but we had spent all previous time trying to get the CV-joints to hold on...
...too much traction was a new ball game.
For this weekend we also had a new gearbox with a new set of intresting gear ratios to test.
It showed out to be a set of gear ratios not at all great for dragracing.
A verry short 1st gave me verry little speed from the line, 2nd was a bit too short too
and 3rd was high enough for the rest of the track and finnish at 238kmh.
I lost all boost when changing gears so it wasnt much help...
Even though we had our problems no other FWD car did it better that weekend.
On top of that we lost more and more topspeed for no obvious reason.
We took out the cluch during lunch to check it out and it dint seem to like what we were doing to it.
A leakdown showed the engine were in perfect condition so cluch slip is the only reason we can think of.
For next race we will do what we can to make the cluch better than new.
Thats our only chance to get into the one digit times this year.
The magazine Bilsport had a small articele with us from the event:
The text basicly says: THE WOK. their CV-joints didnt brake once. That has to be an improvement with several hundred percents.
Björn Holmberg has stopped counting how many he broke. The tyres had a diameter diff of 4,5cm,
but with one tyre over filled during the night solved the problem. Running 10,49 is not making Bjorn happy.
