Bilsport EDPS Malmby 1 September 2007
Here is everything concerning the Wok during the event.

After broken a large number of CV joints we decided to run with the weaker cluch afer all.
This might read a bit odd since its written about something that occured a couple months ago but still.
Since we found Team AVR at Pite dragway a week earlier with their car race ready
although they told us it was not,
the chase for the first nine sec pass was really hitting new levels.
A newly built Volvo 850 ran 10,10s in Sundsvall 400km from Stockholm the same day we were standing in Pite waching the rain poor 850km from Stockholm,
so now there were slightly tense between the possible candidates.
This was almost last race for the season and the track was in poor condition. Only a bit of trackbite was used the first 60ft.
The really last race should have taken place the day after at the same track,
but the rain on sunday made that not to happen.
We in Hot Wok Racing had prepared ourselves with lots of VP Racefuel, a bottle of champagne (just in case) and a fresh set of DOT-tires,
not to mention of same size.
This was a DOT-tires only race. Otherwise we would never run on such poor tyres.
First round we lined up next to Team AVR just for the kicks.
We ran 10,69s - 235kmh with lots of wheel spin.
Team AVR broke one of their cams in two after 150m and it took them all night to fix it.
I kind of feel sorry for them, but such is race.
We noticed our engine had some kind of water leakage someware but we couldnt find the source.
It sounded and responded like it should so we gave it a go for a second atempt.
Second round we ran 10,84s - 232kmh with if possible even more wheel and some cluch spin.
Third round we ran 10,68s - 228kmh. More power in the engine, but also more spin on cluch and tires.
After passing the finnish line the exhaust pipe practicly transformed into a fire hose, flushing large amounts of water and smoke.
It showed we blew the head gasket. Again.
These Cometic suckers just doesnt seem to bare with the power...
We checked the latest weather reports and they told 85% risk of rain on sunday.
Repairing the engine over night wouldnt be worth the effort, and it still wouldnt get perfect.
Since the track wasnt good for any FWD 9sec passes anyway we just made sure the engine wouldnt start to rust
before we light up the barbaque and opened our beers.
The results 10,68 might seem pretty far from the target >9,99, but considering the track conditions,
and that we ran on DOT tires it got us to pick first place in the class Max Street FWD.
That aint hey.
A small notice from the magazine Bilsport:

Quick translation:
Wocked gasket. The Hot Wok Team spent alot of time with thir tools.
The season 2007 hasn't exactly passed as well as expected but the guys arent sad over that.
A new head gasket was put in for sundays race. Running 10,68 made them go only two hundreds slower than the famous Qvarnis.
(Qvarnis is running a porshe 911 turbo with 1000+ hp and is quite a profile in Sweden)
A slight miss understanding from the reporter when he wrote that we changed the head gasket
when we were actually just zipping cold beers all night. =)
After a closer look it seemed as there were some kind of tracion in the track after all...
...or is it just time to fasten the slicks better?
In any case we do have to change wheel studs.
Here is our fanclub putting on make up.
Foppa was so tired after a long day he went home when we started to get fuzzy...
...or at least as I got fuzzy.
Sundays race was as I mentioned cancelled due to rain,
so as the hangover started to loosen its grip
we packed up and went home with what most probably had a chance of being the new fastest FWD car in Sweden 2007.
Now we aim for 2008.
As we came home to the garage we took everything apart.
It showed a new gasket would have made verry little difference.
The bearings looked in better condition than expected though.
After checking the bottom end it seems like we slightly over rated the strength of a 1992 Nissan Primera engine.
Some water lines between the cylinders were clearly out of spec.
A set of Darton dry sleeves from Japtuning is one of our plans of medication.
Hopefully this and some other mods will make it alot stronger next year.
Thats all for now.
Do not miss the film I made from the day!
it can be downloaded from here!

The film is 2,5 minutes.
